Obituary: Kathy Youngblood

Kathy Youngblood ~ July 3, 1960 – August 8, 2025 (age 65)

Kathy Youngblood, 65, of Middleton, passed from this life Friday, August 8, 2025 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

She was born in Somerville to the late Billy Moss and Faye Ervin Moss Chase and lived most all of her life in Hardeman and Hardin counties. Primarily a homemaker, Kathy began her working career, as a teenager, at one of the first car-hops at the Sonic Drive-In in Bolivar. She also worked at several factories in the area and in food service at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

Kathy was a faithful “on-line” member of Piney Grove Church of God where her brother, Aaron, is the minister. Her family knew well not to disturb her during Sunday morning or Wednesday evening services as she enjoyed the webcast.   She had a love for life that made her an encourager to many around her.  Known to many as a wonderful “gift-giver” she was always at the ready to help others, especially her family, even to her own detriment.  A lover of music, she adored her many pet cats including “Half-Pint”, “Max” & “Ozzy”.  Most of all, she loved her family and her grandbabies.

Services were at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Bolivar on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 3 p.m. with the burial in the Bolivar Memorial Cemetery.

She is survived by her loving husband, Hank, of Middleton; daughter, Jessica (Jonathan) Mott of Middleton; grandsons, Jaxton Mott and Jathan Mott along with Rebekkah Allen and her children, R. J. and Katara Ivory; step-son, Jeremiah Schanke (John), brother, Aaron (Danita) Moss of Bethel Springs; sister-in-law, Peggy Moss of Saulsbury; nieces and nephews, Brandon Moss (Shannon Greene), Laura Watkins (Aaron), Joshua Moss (Jaime) and Hannah Moss; a host of great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece.

In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Garron Moss; and her special granny, Viness Smith.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
