Obituary: Kimberly Meeks
Kimberly Meeks, a beloved member of the community, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, in Memphis, Tennessee. Graveside services will be held at Harmony Baptist Cemetery on Friday, January 5, 2024, at 3 p.m. in Walnut, Mississippi. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar will oversee the professional arrangements.
Born on July 13, 1963, in Shelby County, Tennessee, Kimberly was the daughter of James Braswell and Norma Jean Ball Braswell, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her loving sons Mark Meeks and Matt Meeks, both of Middleton, Tennessee, who were her pride and joy throughout her life. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kevin Braswell.
Kimberly led a diverse and fulfilling career over the years. She dedicated a significant portion of her professional life working for Steve Hale in his law firm and also worked at Coca-Cola Inc in Memphis. Later on, Kimberly took on the rewarding responsibility of being a housewife, where she poured her heart into creating a warm and loving home for her family. Furthermore, she worked for the Bolivar Bulletin-Times.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Kimberly pursued various hobbies that brought immeasurable joy to her life. She had a passion for writing and possessed a creative flair that allowed her imagination to flourish on paper. Alongside this talent, Kimberly had an ear for music as she adeptly played both the piano and keyboard while showcasing her angelic singing voice.
One of Kimberly’s greatest pleasures in life was watching her sons grow into the men they are today. The love she had for them was unwavering and left an indelible mark on their lives. As a doting mother and role model to Mark and Matt, she instilled values of kindness, compassion, and resilience that will forever guide them.
Kimberly’s faith played an essential role in shaping her life. A devoted Christian, she found solace and strength through New Life Christian Fellowship Church in Saulsbury, Tennessee. Her spirituality was reflected in every aspect of her life, as she embraced the teachings of love, forgiveness, and grace. She approached each day with unwavering faith and used her beliefs to support and uplift those around her.
Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
