Obituary: Kuryakin Rashad Woods
Kuryakin Rashad Woods was born on July 5, 1994, in Jackson, Tennessee to Ameacheko Lavette Woods. The eldest of three children, Shad accepted Christ as his Savior and Lord at an early age and continued to express his belief in a higher power throughout his life.
Shad attended Greater Springfield Baptist Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar, Tennessee where he and his siblings regularly participated in Sunday school, Bible study, and Sunday service.
Shad attended Bolivar Central High School and later enrolled in the Welding Class at Tennessee College of Applied Technology in Whiteville, Tennessee.
Shad enjoyed swimming, singing, fishing, hiking, traveling, music, and drawing. He was a lively, outgoing, and fun-loving person that could do anything he put his mind to.
He was called home on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, while incarcerated at the Northwestern Correctional Institute in Tiptonville, Tennessee, at 30 years old. Shad was looking forward to coming home in 2026.
Shad is survived by his grandmother, Patricia A. Woods; mother and step-dad, Ameacheko L. Woods-Hoyle and Eric Hoyle; his uncle, Stephen J. Cox; his brother, Antoine T. Genes; sister, Porshae L. Woods; nephew Porter Woods; great aunt, Burnette Woods; four great uncles, Roderick Woods, Kennedy Woods (Mary), Forrest Woods (Shirley), and Rochester Woods. He was proceeded in death by his great-grandmother, Mamie Woods; two great aunts; and three great uncles. Shad had several friends that supported him throughout his time away and their loyalty, contributions, phone calls, and letters were very special to him and will not be forgotten. He is also survived by a host of cousins and special friends that will continue to cherish his memory.
