Obituary: Lloyd “Dillon” Wayne Dellinger
Lloyd Wayne Dellinger, age 78, departed this life at his home surrounded by family on Sunday, October 27, 2024, after battling a lengthy illness.
Mr. Dellinger was born at his family’s homeplace on Forrest Hill Road on June 10, 1946, to the late William Clayton Dellinger, Sr. and Oza Vaughan Dellinger. He was united in marriage to his wife, Linda Mynatt Dellinger, on Thursday, January 9, 1986, and they enjoyed over 38 wonderful years together. Lloyd was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.
Lloyd enjoyed fishing, camping, rides in the country, spending time with his family, and his beloved dog, Daisy. His family holds fond memories of him singing, reading to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and the many tales of his youth. He was beloved by many.
He was also a workaholic who truly enjoyed his job at TK Elevator, from which he retired after 30 years of service. Many of his coworkers will forever remember his shouts of, “Hang the line!”
Chapel services will be at Shackelford Funeral Directors on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at 2 p.m. in Bolivar with the burial in the Walnut Grove Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Dellinger is survived by daughters, Wendy Dodd of Bolivar, Tennessee, Rhonda (William) Kates of Corinth, Mississippi, Amy (Garry) Pilkington of Bolivar, Tennessee, Randi (Bryan) Smith of Bolivar, Tennessee, Dana (Rick) Voyles of Somerville, Tennessee, and Pam (Keith) Russell of Burlison, Tennessee; and sons Kevin Dellinger of Middleton, Tennessee, Keith Dellinger of Bolivar, Tennessee, and Johnny Dellinger of Middleton, Tennessee. He is also survived by grandchildren, Gavin Dodd, Jazemene Dodd, Clay Kates, Cassie Kates, Krystal Kates, Clint Parsons, Brooke Cox, Caleb Pilkington, Rylie Pilkington, Addyson Smith, Dalton Smith, Felicia Dewitt, Jessica Staggs, Joshua Thompson, Joshua Russell, Justin Russell, Kayla Bissett, and Kendall Dellinger. Additionally, he is survived by great-grandchildren, Kai Williams, Zaiden Howell, Alice Parsons, Koda Parsons, Avery Cox, Liam Cox, Magnolia Cox, Charlotte Cox, Layne Ray, Emily Dewitt, Owen Dewitt, Weston Staggs, McKinley Staggs, Kyleigh Staggs, Elliot Staggs, Everyly Staggs, Camden Thompson, Liam Thompson, Allie Thompson, Aubrey Jane Russell, Gracie Mae Russell, Bentlee Bissett, Paislee Bissett, Lynnlee Bissett, and Harlee Bissett. Lloyd is also survived by brothers, Clyde, Wayne, and Earl Dellinger; sister Lorraine Snyder; and special nephew, Carroll Brock.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Moval Flake, Mayola Dantzler, and Willie Mae Dellinger; brother, W.C. Dellinger, Jr.; grandchildren, Paige Dellinger, Gracelynn Dewitt, and Elijah Staggs; and nephew, Johnathan Eric Brock. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the American Heart Association.
