Obituary: Martha Marie (Boyle) Shields
In loving memory of Martha Boyle Shields. Martha was born on August 8, 1955 to the late Johnnie and Geanie Higgis in Bolivar, Tennessee.
Her funeral service will be held at Greater Springfield Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 12 p.m. with Pastor Shon Beasley in charge. Burial will be in the Bolivar Community Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home is in charge of the professional service.
Martha attended school in Hardeman County and graduated from Bolivar Central High School. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with Greater Springfield Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death. Ms. Shields was a member of the women missionary. She was employed at Thyssen Krupp (Dover) Elevator where she retired after 42 years of service.
She was untiled in holy matrimony to the late Reverend Gene N. Shields. To this union she acquired three step sons.
Along with her parents and husband, she had three brothers who preceded her in death, William Price, Thomas Boyle, and Edward Vaught; a niece, Pamela Green; and one stepson, Deion Sheilds.
She leaves to cherish her memories three sisters, Velma (Charlie) Holt of Memphis, Betty (Jessie) Chism of Bolivar, and Dianne Kirnes of Huntsville, Alabama; one brother, Davis (Linda) Higgs of Bolivar; two stepsons, Calvin (Kina) Crawford of Southaven, Mississippi and Nate (Ranada) Shields of Ripley, Mississippi; Erin Fant of Capili, Texas; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends and the Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church family of Yuma, Tennessee.
