Michael Burnett, a beloved family man and hardworking individual, passed away peacefully at his home in Bolivar, Tennessee on November 26, 2023. He was born on January 23, 1952, in Jackson, Tennessee to his parents Lushios Edmon Burnett II and Mary Avent Burnett.

Michael had a fulfilling career as a foreman at Harman Automotive before retiring in 1993. After his retirement, he began working for Bolivar Sheet Metal and continued to excel in his profession until 2010. Known for his strong work ethic and love for what he did, Michael found joy in the satisfaction of a job well done.

Outside of work, Michael embraced various hobbies and interests. He had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time in his garden, nurturing plants to flourish under his care. He also had a passion for hunting and fishing, finding solace in nature’s beauty. Michael was a skilled mechanic who loved working on cars, always eager to tinker with engines and make them purr again.

One of Michael’s greatest joys was passing on his knowledge to others, especially his children. He took great pride in teaching each one of them how to drive and instilling important life lessons along the way. His desire to share wisdom and foster growth reflected the core values he held dear.

Above all else, Michael cherished his family and was deeply devoted to his wife Judy Hammons Burnett, whom he married on December 4, 1970. They shared a love that served as an inspiration to those around them. Their bond was unbreakable, cemented through years of companionship filled with understanding and support.

In addition to Judy, Michael leaves behind a legacy carried forth by their children Michele Howe (Kevin) of Humboldt, Jamie Burnett (Leigh Ann) of Finger, and Robert B. Burnett (Christine) of Jackson. Each child holds precious memories of their time together with their father, cherishing the knowledge imparted by him.

Their shared experiences and sibling bond made for treasured moments throughout the years.

The love Michael had for his family extended to his grandchildren as well. Emma Grace and Joshua James Burnett, Kendall, Leah Claire, and Heath Howe, and Molleigh Burnett were the apples of his eye. He relished in watching them grow, always present to support their endeavors with unwavering pride.

In addition to his dedication to his family, Michael served in the National Guard, demonstrating a commitment to the greater good of his country. His devotion to duty reflected his character and sense of responsibility.

Described as a “Jack of all trades,” Michael’s versatility was matched only by his kind heart. He had an affable nature that drew people to him effortlessly. Whether lending a helping hand or offering sage advice, he was always ready to assist those in need.

Michael Burnett was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched countless lives with his wisdom, generosity, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
