Obituary: Montrez De’Leon McAlister
Montrez De’Leon McAlister ~ April 26, 1989 – January 8, 2023 (age 33)
Sunday January 8, 2023, God in His infinite wisdom deemed it time for Montrez to depart from this world of turmoil to a place of rest and await the return of Christ our Savior.
His funeral service was held on Saturday January 21, 2023 , at Greater Springfield Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. with Reverend Tommie Lee Woods, Sr. in charge. Burial was in the Bethlehem Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.
Montrez was born on April 26, 1989, to Dr. Steve Randolph McAlister, Sr. and Ms. Betty Price.
As a child, Montrez acknowledged Christ as his Savior and joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, where Dr. Arthur L. Becton remains as pastor.
Montrez was a 2006 graduate of Bolivar Central High School. He later attended a professional driver school in Iowa, where he obtained his commercial driver’s license. He was employed as a distributor for Huddle House in Atlanta, Georgia.
He enjoyed driving trucks but helping others was his greatest passion. Montrez’s personality was contagious. He was a fun person to be around and he unconditionally loved his family and four children, Rhylee McAlister, Beaux McAlister, and Miyaire and Miyelle Long, his greatest joys.
Montrez transition leaves memories in the mind and heart of his dear mother, Ms. Betty (Robert) Price; his father, Dr. Steve Randolph McAlister, Sr.; grandmothers, Ms. Alice Mae Woods and Ms. Jessie Mae McAlister; three brothers, Steve McAlister, Jr. (Jasman), Marquis Hennings, and Steve McAlister of Illinois; eight aunt,; Ms. Ruby (Bobby) Harvey, Helen Woods, Cynthia Brown, Elizabeth Woods, Burnette Woods-Moss, Shirley McAlister (Spencer), Shijuan McAlister, and Teresa (Lavonnta) McAlister-Cook; five uncles, Pastor Tommie Lee (Earnestine) Woods, Joe Frank Woods, Jr., Wylie McAlister, Jr., Anthony McAlister, and Samuel McAlister; special cousins, Dominique, Courtney, Erica, Chasity, Keshauna, and Delicia; and additional family members due to marriage, Ms. Connie (Cory) Bufford, Minister Earline Price, Minister Yvonne (Brian) Shephered, and Tony Price; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Montrez was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Mr. Joe Frank Woods Sr. and Mr. Wylie McAlister Sr.; two aunts, Ms. Martha Woods and Ms. Nellie Woods; two uncles, Johnny McAlister and David Bo Cole; and a special cousin, Clarence D. Minter, Jr.
