Obituary: Randy Pulliam

Randy Pulliam ~ September 26, 1953 – November 7, 2023 (age 70)

Randy Pulliam, a beloved father, husband, and member of the community, passed away peacefully at his home in Southaven, Mississippi on November 7, 2023. Surrounded by his loving family, Randy’s departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him.

Born on September 26, 1953, in Ripley, Mississippi, Randy was the son of Robert Pulliam Jr. and Evelyn Muzette Gunn Pulliam, who preceded him in death. Growing up alongside his brothers Philip and Herschel, who also preceded him in death, Randy learned the values of love, compassion, and hard work that would shape his life.

Randy’s career spanned many years as a dedicated professional in the trucking industry. He worked as a broker for a trucking company and held additional roles in safety and dispatching for various prominent trucking companies. Randy’s final workplace was Rapid Transportation where he contributed significantly to its success through his unwavering commitment and exemplary work ethic.

While Randy excelled in his profession, he found true joy in the company of family and friends. A loving husband to Donna Ralls Pulliam, whom he married on August 16, 1975, in Memphis, Tennessee, and a doting father to his daughter, Kellye, Randy cherished every moment spent with them. Kellye held a special place in Randy’s heart as they shared an unbreakable bond; she was truly a “daddy’s girl.” The love and care Randy showered upon Kellye served as an inspiration to all fathers.

In addition to his devotion to family life, Randy enjoyed woodworking and watching football, especially his favorite team, the Los Angeles Rams.

In the 1970s, Randy’s love for the Lord and love of singing, led him to be part of a gospel quartet. Singing for the Lord always gave him great joy and now he has his strong, beautiful voice back and is seeing and worshipping Jesus face to face.

Randy Pulliam will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments and hobbies but also for the positive impact he made on the lives of those around him. His kind heart, infectious smile, and genuine love for people left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with him.

To honor Randy’s life and pay tribute to the man who touched our hearts, visitation will be held at Harmony Baptist Church located, 28950 MS-15 in Walnut, Mississippi, on November 13, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This will be followed by a funeral service also taking place at Harmony Baptist Church from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar are in charge of professional arrangements.

Randy leaves behind a loving family consisting of his wife, Donna; their daughter, Kellye; several nieces; nephews; great nephews and nieces; a sister in law and brother in law; and many cousins and friends.

Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to Shad Williams Evangelistic Association, 330 West Maple Street, P.O. Box 524, Adamsville, Tennessee, 38310.
