Obituary: Richard Brian Smith – Bolivar, Tennessee
Richard Brian Smith, age 44, of Bolivar, departed this life on Friday, August 12, 2022 near Toone, Tennessee.
He was born in Jackson and lived all his life in Hardeman County where he was involved in church ministry for 28 years. His father was the late A. C. Smith, and his mother is Linda Holloway.
Brian was the owner/operator of Brian Smith Electric in Bolivar and had been a pastor for Enon Baptist Church, Hebron Baptist Church and, at the time of his passing, was helping serve Frog Jump Methodist Church in Crockett County. He began his church work as a bus driver for the youth and children’s minister and leaves behind 24 years of youth group kids to mourn his passing.
Brian was always looking for ways to serve his community. He enjoyed helping children by sponsoring youth ball teams and assisting area schools with their needs. Through his electrical business, he installed lights at the new Sand Beach Lake in Bolivar and the Hornsby baseball field. He had a special love for friends and family but, especially for his sons who were the lights of his life.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar.
He leaves two sons, Jacob Smith and Caleb Smith, both of Bolivar; his mother, Linda (Ricky) Holloway of Pocahontas; two half-sisters, Suzanne (Mike) Mimms of Collierville and Christi Smith of Counce; one half-brother, Drew Smith of Savannah; and his former wife, Ashley Smith of Jackson.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Robert and Louise Bryant, and paternal grandparents, Millard, and Atha Lou Smith.
