Risë Jo McCalip Courter ~ January 7, 1956 – June 10, 2023 (age 67)

Risë Jo McCalip Courter, 67, of Guys, Tennessee, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023, at her home.

Services will be held at the Shackelford Chapel in Middleton on Friday, June 16, 2023, at 1 p.m. with Vince McCalip officiating. Burial will be in McCalip’s Chapel Cemetery near Hornsby. The family will receive friends at the funeral home in Middleton from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023.

Risë Jo Courter was born on January 7, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was the daughter of the late Betty and Frank McCalip. Mrs. Courter graduated from Middleton High School in 1974. She went to school for drafting at Whiteville Vo-Tech and later designed elevators at Dover/ThyssenKrupp Elevators.

Mrs. Courter was a devoted wife to her husband, Frank, for 37 years after they met at their place of employment. Frank was her caregiver for many years and took care of all her needs. He was able to care for her in their home until she passed.

She loved music, going to concerts, cross stitching, and she and her husband liked to take trips. Mrs. Courter acquired a love for cooking.

Mrs. Courter was a member of United Methodist Church in Finger, Tennessee which she attended with her dear mother. This was their special time together.

She departed from life on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in her home with her husband by her side. Mrs. Courter is survived by her husband, Frank, and her only daughter, Crystal Epperson (Stacy) of Greenbrier, Arkansas. She also has three brothers, Ross McCalip (Carolyn) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Winston McCalip of Malibu, California, and Vince McCalip (Wanda) of Grand Junction, Tennessee; and one sister, Rhonda Huber (Eric) of Southaven, Mississippi.

Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
