Obituary: Robert Shaw “Bob” Pinner
Robert Shaw “Bob” Pinner of Whiteville, Tennessee passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Memphis, Tennessee on November 11, 1948 to William Shaw Pinner and Margaret Sue Sammons Pinner of Whiteville, Tennessee. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many and was a 1966 graduate of Whiteville High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1970 from the University of Tennessee, Martin.
Bob was the owner and operator of New Castle Gin & Agricenter and Managing partner of Cedar Chapel Gin when he retired in 2009. He served in the United States Army National Guard for seven years; was a member of Whiteville First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, a trustee, men’s Sunday school class teacher, and served on other numerous committees; Bob served as a past president of the Whiteville Jaycees; was voted as an Outstanding Young Man of America in 1983; and was the past president of the Tennessee Ginners Association. The Pinner Family was voted for the Hardeman County Farm Family of the year, 2019.
Bob loved being with his family and was never caught without candy in his pocket for his grandchildren. He relished time with his friends and enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, Wednesday night poker with his buddies, and playing golf (he would joke that a score card never showed how ugly one played).
