Obituary: Ronnie “Bump” Bumpus

Ronnie “Bump” Bumpus ~ September 12, 1956 – March 20, 2023

Ronnie “Bump” Bumpus, 66, of Saulsbury passed away Monday, March 20, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Bumpus was born on Wednesday, September 12, 1956, in Holly Springs, Mississippi, to the late Leon Bumpus and Ruby Godsey. Living most of his life in Hardeman County, he worked at Outlet Junction for 10 plus years. He was married to Beverly Bumpus. They were married on April 24, 1982, at New Life Christian Fellowship.

He loved spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids. But his true love was for the Great Smokey Mountains and visiting the beach. His kids and grandkids were his whole world. Mr. Bumpus enjoyed gardening and tending to his flowers and summertime.  He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. But most of all, he loved the Lord and if you asked Ronnie, he would tell you he knew he was going to heaven.

Services are at the Shackelford Funeral Home chapel in Bolivar, on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Saulsbury Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, March 25, 2023, after 10 a.m.

In addition to his wife, Beverly, of nearly 41 years, he is survived by his daughter, Contrina Bumpus (Ricco), Precious, Reykedra, Ricco Jr., Rickhia, Ricarion, Rhyan of Bolivar; daughter, Rachel Flint, Mackenzie, Allison, Jasmine of Middleton; son, Justin Bumpus (Jessica), Kameron, Baby Bumpus; son, Dillon Baker (Mark), Amelia of Saulsbury; daughter, Emily  Baker (Jonathan), Elizabeth, Jaxson of Bolivar. He is survived by a sister, Judy of Brighton, and 14 grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; and two grandchildren. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the Saulsbury Cemetery.
