Obituary: Ruby Nell Stewart – Germantown, Tennessee

Mrs. Ruby Nell Stewart, age 88, of Germantown, Tennessee passed away Thursday evening, August 11, 2022 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis. She is the widow of Dan Edward Stewart who passed away in January 2009.

Services were held Monday, August 15, 2022 at 1 p.m. in the Shackelford Chapel in Bolivar with burial following in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors had charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Stewart lived her early years in Hardeman County before moving to Memphis in 1951 where she lived the remainder of her life. Her parents were the late Wines and Lucy Fawcett Jackson. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynn Jackson and W. D. Jackson.

Mrs. Stewart married on April 14, 1950 and was a member of the Germantown Church of Christ. She worked as a beautician and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening. An avid reader of the Bolivar-Bulletin, she enjoyed keeping up with activities and developments in her hometown.

She leaves her daughter, Brenda Silcox of Memphis; her son, Brent Stewart (Donna) of Collierville; her sister, Betty J. Grantham of Middleton; and three grandchildren, Angie Brown, Clay Stewart, and Reid Stewart.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
