Obituary: Sadie M. Swinford
Sadie M. Swinford, 87, of Medon, Tennessee, departed this life on Thursday evening, October 31, 2024, at her home.
She was born in Selmer, Tennessee, on Saturday, April 17, 1937, to her parents, the late William Foust and Myrtle Mathis Coats. She married Mr. John Swinford in the late 1970s and worked in housekeeping at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Bolivar. She lived most all of her life in the Medon community where she was a member of Big Springs Methodist Church. In her leisure time, she liked tending flowers, gardening, and bird watching, especially hummingbirds.
Mrs. Swinford is survived by two daughters, Linda (Bryant) Hopper of Medon and Lisa Wilbanks of Finger; one son, Jimmy Wilbanks of Medon; one sister, Brenda McCaslin of Jackson; two grandchildren, Kayla (Leasel Kennedy) Hopper and Angela (Dustin Greve) Hopper; and five great-grandchildren, Jackson Greve, Lyndon Freels, Letty Hopper, Abel Wilbanks, and Braden Earnest.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; grandson, Johnathan Wilbanks; four sisters, Marie Foust, Madie Wilson, Mable Johnson, and Maxie Honeycutt; and two brothers, Alvie and William Foust.
Services were held at Shackelford Funeral Directors on Monday, November 4, 2024, at 2 p.m. in Bolivar with interment at the Big Springs Cemetery in Medon.
