Obituary: Sandra Kay (Daniel) Horner
Sandra Kay (Daniel) Horner ~ February 28, 1945 – November 6, 2022
Sandra Kay (Daniel) Horner died Sunday, November 6, 2022, after a long illness. She was born February 28, 1945, in Canaan, Mississippi, to the late Naomi and Rufus Daniel. The family moved to Saulsbury, Tennessee when she was six years old. Mrs. Horner moved to Elizabethtown, Kentucky to work at her sister’s Holiday Inn. Prior to that, she worked in Memphis, Saulsbury, and Bolivar, Tennessee, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Sedalia, Missouri, and Atlanta, Georgia, making friends wherever she went.
She was a member of Lincoln Trail Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. Ms. Horner loved gospel music, her heritage, antiques, animals, and children, and cherished her family. She was a staunch supporter of her friends and a defender of the underdog.
Church services are on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at 2 p.m. at Saulsbury Baptist Church in Saulsbury, Tennessee. Burial is in Saulsbury Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar are in charge of professional arrangements.
Ms. Horner was preceded in death by her husband, Warren (“Bud”) Horner, and sister, Martha Drake. Survivors include daughter, Penne Price Sims, of Pocahontas, Tennessee; son, Scott (Bonnie) Willis of Acworth, Georgia; three grandsons, Sidney Sims, Daniel Willis (Faye), and Josh Willis; sister, Ann Daniel (Kenneth), of Collierville, Tennessee; and two nieces and one nephew.
She will be remembered for her great sense of humor, infectious laugh, and loving heart.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Saulsbury Cemetery or Saulsbury First Baptist Church.
