Obituary: Sandra Kay Steppe

Sandra Kay Steppe, a retired bank teller for Regions Bank in Jackson, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Wellington Manor in Jackson. She was born on December 11, 1951, in Hardeman County, Tennessee.

Sandra was a dedicated employee during her time as a bank teller and was known for her kindness and professionalism. She attended Bolivar Central High School, where she laid foundation for her future endeavors. Sandra married Bill A. Steppe in April of 1979 at Dixie Hills Baptist Church in Bolivar.

Outside of her career, Sandra had a variety of interests and hobbies that brought her joy. She found solace in reading her Bible, which provided her with spiritual strength and guidance. Sandra also cherished the simple pleasures of dining out and taking leisurely walks with her beloved dog, “Buddy”. Additionally, she was an avid reader who could often be found engrossed in the pages of a good book. However, above all else, Sandra treasured her family deeply. She was a Christian and attended Oakland Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be at Parrans Chapel Cemetery on Monday, August 5, 2024, at 11 a.m. in Bolivar. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar is in charge of professional arrangements.

Sandra Kay Steppe is survived by her husband, Bill A. Steppe of Jackson and their son, Hunter H. Steppe of Jackson. She will be remembered fondly by them as well as by her deceased family members: Haskell Harris (father), Birdie Ridgell Harris (mother), Gerald Harris and Emory Harris (brothers), and Sabra Vincent and Rose Harris (sisters).

Sandra’s warm personality and unwavering love for her family leave behind a legacy of compassion and strength. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.  Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or LeBonheur Children’s Medical Center
