Obituary: Sarah (Douglas) Murphy – Whiteville, Tennessee
Sarah (Douglas) Murphy ~ October 24, 1944 – September 23, 2022 (age 77)
Sarah Murphy passed away on Friday September 22, 2022. She was born on October 24, 1944, to the late Henry Douglas and Tommie Lou Wood Douglas.
Her funeral service was held on Saturday October 1, 2022, at the Jerome Boyd Chapel at 11 a.m. at Dixie funeral Home with Evangelist Yvonne Price-Shepherd in charge. Burial was in the Union Springs Church Cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.
Ms. Murphy accepted Jesus Christ at a young age and joined Union Springs Missionary Baptist Church where she was a member of the Mother’s Ministry. She was known to go from house to house in a green station wagon picking up children for church services.
She was employed with H.I.S. (Whiteville) and Lucern factories. Murphy attended Allen-White School and spent countless hours solving crossword puzzles, reading, and making crafts.
Preceding her in death were her parents; five siblings, Otha Douglas, Adie Pearl Price, James Henry Douglas, Cal Sue Pickens, and Larry Douglas.
Ms. Murphy did not have any biological children but leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Irene Ragland, Pauline (William) McKinnie, Minnie Allen, Earline Douglas; one brother, Willie Douglas; her niece, Connie (Cory); and many other relatives and friends who will truly miss her.
