Obituary: Sue Hodge – Hornsby, Tennessee

Sue Hodge, age 80, of Hornsby, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at her home. Mrs. Hodge was born in Hardeman County and lived all her life in the Hornsby and Bolivar areas. She was a graduate of Bolivar Central High School and married Mr. Billy Joe Hodge, Sr. on November 11, 1962, approaching 60 years of marriage at the time of her death.

Graveside services and interment will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 3 p.m. at Hatchie Cemetery in Hornsby, Tennessee. Shackelford Funeral Directors is in charge of all professional arrangements.

Mrs. Hodge was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Remer McKee Harbin. Also preceding her in death were her daughter, Wanda Robin Watson (December 29, 2021); stepson, Billy Joe Hodge, Jr. (July 18, 2018); grandsons, Jacob Dowty and Corey Matthew Hodge; great-grandson, Aiden Wayne Fisher; three sisters, Neola Sutton, Marie Landreth, and Jean Haire; and one brother, Johnnie Harbin.

She worked for many years at WMHI in Bolivar in pastoral care and retired from Bolivar Sand following 11 years as the office administrator. Mrs. Hodge was an active member of Hatchie Baptist Church near Hornsby where she had been church secretary and a Sunday School teacher. In her leisure time, Sue enjoyed reading, watching and collecting movies, caring for her plants, gardening, canning vegetables from her garden and, cooking family meals. She most enjoyed times when her grandchildren and great-grandchildren would come to see her.

Mrs. Hodge leaves her husband, Billy Joe Hodge, Sr. of Hornsby; three daughters, Gail Marcum (Keith) of Bolivar, Beverly McLemore (Dennis) of Jackson and, Lee Brown (Red) of Hornsby; one son, John Hodge (Jennifer) of Medon; one step-son, Tony Hodge (Becky) of Savannah; one brother, Terry Harbin (Linda) of Hornsby; 12 grandchildren, Chris Marcum, Kayla Kuroda (Derick), Kara Marcum, Brian King (Macy), Jessica King, Emily Mitchell, Kenley Mitchell, Morgan McLemore, Taylor
McLemore, Mallory Mason (Deitrick), Macy Lowery. and Trevor Wilson; and 12 great-grandchildren, Kale Marcum, Avery King, Hannah King, Jaxon King, Weston Fisher, Hudson Fisher, Carter Jo Mitchell, Luna Harwell, Malachi Pearson, Corey Dowty, Aubree Mason, and “one on the way” in December.

Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
