Obituary: Troy Lee Wilkes

Troy Lee Wilkes ~ February 24, 1962 – November 13, 2022 (age 60)

Troy Lee Wilkes passed away on Sunday November 13, 2022, when God called him home to his eternal resting place. He was born February 24, 1962, to Odessa Johnson Wilkes and the late Illinois Wilkes Sr. 

His funeral service was held on Saturday November 19, 2022, at Simon Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with Pastor Danny Wilkes in charge. Burial was in the church cemetery and Dixie Funeral Home was in charge of the professional service.

 Troy professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He attended Bolivar Central High School. Troy was a craftsman to his community and a jack of all trades. He worked on many houses decks and helped on multiple construction sites and dedicated many years at ICE in Bolivar, Tennessee. His hobbies consisted of drawing in his free time and spending time with family and friends. Troy enjoyed listening to genres of music, especially blues.

As Troy furthered his education, he met Terry Crews whom he was united in holy matrimony in 1986, and remained married until he departed his earthly life. 

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Terry Wilkes; and a sister, Vanessa Wilkes.

Troy leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife and mother; three daughters, Shakisha (Jaymoy Sr.) Lawerence, Brittni Wilkes, and Troymeca Wilkes; seven grandchildren, Jaymoy Jr., Katelyn, Rodriquez Jr., Nehemiah, Zion, Josiah, and JaiZelle; four sisters, Verrie Robertson, Evon (late Aron) Monie, Debbie (Jerry) Cox, and Penny (Gaston) Dotson; five brothers, Illinois Wilkes Jr., Pastor Danny (Jean) Wilkes, Kenneth (Faye) Wilkes, Charles (Sharon) Wilkes, and Scottie (Curenia) Wilkes; special friends, Tom and Gladys Bell; three god children, Rayrequis (Erin) Blakemore, Ricky Hill, and Alexandria Blakemore; several aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, family, and friends.
