Waymon C. “Pete” Rowland ~ May 8, 1932 – January 27, 2023 (age 90)
Waymon C. “Pete” Rowland, 90, of Bolivar, passed from this life Friday, January 27, 2023, at Christian Care Center in Bolivar.
The husband of Jane C. Rowland, whom he married on June 26, 1956, in Ripley, Mississippi, he retired in June of 1993, as a personnel manager with Teknor Apex in Brownsville. Mr. Rowland was born Sunday, May 8, 1932, in Tippah County, Mississippi, son of the late William Franklin Rowland and Eunice Emiline Brown Rowland, moving here in 1964. He served his country in the United States Army and was a 3rd Degree Mason. Mr. Rowland enjoyed fishing, gardening, and talking to others, and was a well-known ‘prankster and jokester’. His greatest enjoyment came from being around his family, whom he dearly loved. Mr. Rowland was a member of Bolivar First Baptist Church.
Services were at the Shackelford Funeral Home chapel in Bolivar on Sunday, January 29, 2023, at 3 p.m. Burial was in Bolivar Memorial Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Nita Woods (Robert) of Bolivar; two stepsons, Gerald Gay of Bolivar and Larry Gay (Jimmie) of Ripley, Mississippi; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.
