Obituary: Willa Amelia “Amy” Randolph Caraway

Willa Amelia “Amy” Randolph Caraway (age 61)

Willa Amelia “Amy” Randolph Caraway, age 61, resident of Toone, Tennessee and wife of James Caraway, departed this life Sunday evening, December 3, 2023, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tennessee.

Amy was born September 12, 1962, in Harris County, Texas, the daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt Randolph, Sr. and Nevie Loraine Manley Randolph. She received her education in Houston, Texas and was a chef and bartender for many years. Amy was married January 4, 1993, to James Caraway and had been a resident of Somerville for 30 years before moving to Toone recently.

While Amy only had three biological children, she claimed and loved many more. Throughout the years, she opened her heart and home to many people, young and old. Amy took so much pride in caring for the people she loved, especially her husband, James. Throughout their 30 year marriage, there was rarely ever a day she did not wake him up with breakfast in bed. If you knew her, you know food was her love language, as cooking was one of her biggest passions. She often used her culinary skills to help raise money for different causes at the Somerville Moose Lodge, where she was a lifetime member. Amy was known by many different names to many different people, but her favorite above all others was “Grandma”. Her greatest joy in life came from her four grandsons. They were the “twinkle in her eye,” as she would say. Amy will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. As the great philosopher Winnie the Pooh once said, “How lucky am I to have something so special, it makes saying goodbye so hard.”

Mrs. Caraway is survived by her husband, James Caraway of Toone, Tennessee; three daughters, Jennifer Amy Carney (Jason) of Springfield, Tennessee, Jamie Lynn Ruiz (Oscar) of Williston, Tennessee, and Amber Michelle Caraway of Williston, Tennessee; two sons, Shane Michael Caraway of Maui, Hawaii and Harlan Eric Caraway of Arizona; her brother, Ted Randolph, Jr. of Tyler, Texas; and four grandchildren, Trevor Ruiz, Isaac Ruiz, Brantley Caraway, and Jackson Carney. She also leaves many other kids who she played mom to over the years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved niece, Scarlett Amelia Randolph.

A visitation for Mrs. Caraway will be held at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Memorial services will be at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 7 p.m. with Jay Kemper officiating. A private interment will be in the Stanton Cemetery in Stanton, Tennessee.
