Obituary: William Robert “Boe” Cossar, Jr,

William Robert “Boe” Cossar, Jr, ~ March 10, 1935 – December 17, 2024 (age 89)

Mr. William Robert “Boe” Cossar, Jr, 89, of Bolivar, departed this life on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the Bolivar General Hospital.

Born in Saulsbury, the son of the late William Robert, Sr. and Grace Maddox Cossar, he was a life-long resident of Hardeman County. He was united in marriage to Gladys Marie Vickers, who survives, on January 15, 1956, and was a 60-year employee of Frost Well Supply in Hickory Valley. A Baptist in belief, Mr. Cossar enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending his tomato gardens every year. He excelled as a baseball coach having led his son’s teams in Minor League, Little League, and Babe Ruth League.

Graveside services will be held at Bolivar Memorial Cemetery on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. with Dennis McMahan officiating. Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar is in charge of local arrangements.

In addition to his wife of 68 years, Mr. Cossar leaves his daughters, Debbie Cole of Bolivar and Melissa Dawn Hamberger (Martin) of Geneva, Switzerland; his son, William Robert “Billy” Cossar, III (Sharon) of Bolivar; five grandchildren, Chris Deming (Jamie), Brittany Deming, Jack Hamberger, Blane Cossar (Tahanna), and Austin Cossar; and eight great-grandchildren, Abram and Eli Deming, Liam and Lexi Helton, Savannah Lee, Kiley Collins, and Tansley and Taylon Cossar.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Ann Williams and Betty Lou Jacobs, both of Bolivar.

Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor’s choice.
