Obituary: Wilma M. German
Church services for Wilma M. German, 86, of Whiteville will be held at Bethlehem Baptist Church near Whiteville on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 2 p.m. with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. German departed this life on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.
A native of the Vildo community near Whiteville, she lived most all her life in Hardeman County. Her parents were the late Clarence Elmer Rodgers and Bessie Lee Sanders Rodgers. On December 15, 1956, she was married Mr. Charles William German and their union endured until his passing on September 6, 2017, following 60 years of marriage. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Webb and Judith Ann Rodgers Emerson; and a brother, John Thomas Rodgers.
She was a life-long member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church and retired from Garner Automotive in Whiteville after 28 years of service. In her leisure time, Mrs. German enjoyed gospel music, reading her Bible, and tending her garden.
She leaves a daughter, Patricia Morris (Terry) of Whiteville; a son, David German (Karen), also of Whiteville; three grandchildren, Savannah Patterson (Michael), Emily Fuller (Chris), and Christina German; and three great-grandchildren, Rose Clayborne, Rhett German, and Michaela Patterson.
