Obituary: Zena Parham
Zena Parham, age 95, of Germantown, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024. She was born on August 11, 1929, in Moscow, Tennessee, where she spent her early years.
Zena devoted a significant part of her life to her career as a secretary with Folk Construction Company, from which she retired in the early 1990s. Her professionalism and unwavering commitment to her work were traits that earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.
In addition to her professional life, Zena cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Strobel and her husband Philip of Burleson, Texas; and her son, Michael “Mike” Parham and his wife Ilinda of Germantown. Zena’s legacy lives on through her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Zena was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Junction, which provided her with community and spiritual fulfillment throughout her life.
Her beloved husband, Ralph Parham, whom she married on June 11, 1949, preceded her in death in 2014 as well as her father, Herman Dewey Simmons, Sr.; her mother, Zena Nunnelly Parham; and three sisters and brothers.
Visitation services will be held at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Bolivar, l109 Mecklinburg Drive in Bolivar, on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Following the visitation, a graveside service will take place at Grand Junction Cemetery, 498 Walnut Street, Grand Junction, Tennessee, starting at 1 p.m.
Zena Parham will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and the indelible impact she made on the lives of those who knew her. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends. Memorial contributions in her name may be sent to the Grand Junction First Baptist Church and Cemetery.
