Petitions Picked Up for Hickory Valley and Grand Junction Mayor and Alderman Positions

Residents of Grand Junction and Hickory Valley will have the opportunity to select a new mayor and aldermen in the November 8, 2022 election. The position of mayor will be on the ballot for both towns along with three alderman positions in Grand Junction, and five alderman positions in Hickory Valley.

The first day potential candidates could pick up a petition was June 20, 2022 and the qualifying deadline is August 18, 2022 at noon.

As of last week, one petition for Hickory Valley Mayor had been picked up by incumbent, Ricky Ayers.

Five people picked up petitions for Hickory Valley Alderman: Bobby Hensley, Richard Lake, Duane Lax, Jane Powell, and Noel Toney.

Three people picked up petitions for Grand Junction Mayor: Curtis Lane (incumbent), Dianne Patterson, and Nakita Prewitt.

Three people picked up petitions for Grand Junction Alderman: Benjamin Allen, Steven Luellen, and Robert Webb.

Anyone interested in qualifying to be on the ballot for the position of mayor or alderman must be a resident of the district, must pick up a petition from the election commission and get 25 signatures from registered voters in their district. Petitions must be turned in by noon (12 p.m. CST) on August 18, 2022. The full list of requirements to qualify is available at the election commission office, 106 South Porter Street in Bolivar.

The last day to register to vote in the November 8 election is Tuesday, October 11, 2022. Early Voting is October 19 – November 3, 2022.
