Caring was in Full Bloom at Record Breaking Fayette Cares Plant Sale

The Fayette Cares Plant Sale held in Oakland, Tennessee on Saturday, April 15, 2023, was a brilliant display of colorful flowers and community caring. Hundreds gathered to shop, volunteer, and donate plants in support of services that shelter the homeless, create safety for victims of domestic violence, and restore stability from crisis. Because of community caring, the event broke records, raising a net of nearly $19,000; the best in its 31-year history.

Strong support was given by growers Willow Oaks Flower Farm and Lucerne Farms, that contributed a portion of proceeds to support Fayette Cares. The Homegrown section of the sale offered donated plants from local gardeners, adding to the beautiful selection of flowers, herbs, vegetables, and shrubs.

Guests weaved through the racks of plants with their Kroger shopping carts in the Oakland Elementary School gymnasium, finding Fayette County Master Gardeners who could help them make wise selections and learn how to tend to their new garden treasures.
