Red, White & Bolivar Kicks Off Holiday Weekend
An early Independence Day celebration was literally in the air at the annual Red, White & Bolivar event with featured artist, Caleb Minter, arriving at Sand Beach Lake in a helicopter flown by Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain.
Bolivar Mayor Julian McTizic then ushered Minter to the stage where he and his band were scheduled as the headliner for the event. Minter, a Bolivar native, and his band did not disappoint and put on an entertaining show.
Although the event was held in Bolivar, the Red, White & Bolivar event drew in hundreds of people from across the county, as well as its surrounding areas. Attorney Joseph Crone and his wife, Adriana, came from Brownsville after an invitation from Mayor McTizic. They both enjoyed the event and had nothing but praises for McTizic and the citizens of Bolivar.
“We saw a display of a microcosm of why we celebrate the 4th of July. People from all walks of life were there to enjoy the show and fireworks together with a unity of purpose,” said Crone. “The food vendors were all friendly, and the food was delicious. We enjoyed receiving popcorn and snow cones from the wonderful men and women of First Baptist Church, Bolivar.”
Crone also noted Minter’s performance and the fireworks show that followed.
“The soul music was good for the soul, and the fireworks display over Sand Beach Lake was a fitting display of patriotism that makes me happy to be an American.”
Earlier in the evening, Hardeman County 4-H members led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Red, White & Bolivar event was one that included people from all parts of the community.
