Reverend William D. Young to Speak at County-Wide Worship Service

Reverend William D. Young will be the guest speaker at the Hardeman County Commission for Black History (HCCBH) Annual County-Wide Worship Service. The worship service will be held at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Reverend Jerry Crisp presiding, on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at 3 p.m. Although the event is the last of the scheduled activities the HCCBH is holding in recognition of Black History Month, the Black Resistance exhibit will remain open through Saturday, March 18, 2023.

Reverend Young is a minister and activist from Bolivar, Tennessee. Young was born December 21, 1991, to William and Annette Young. He graduated from Bolivar Central High School in 2010 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from University of Memphis in 2014. In 2019, Young earned a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry with a concentration in Social Justice (cum laude) from Memphis Theological Seminary. Young was a recipient of the Terry L. Bryant Leadership Award out of his graduating class of Memphis Theological Seminary, and an awardee of the Dr. Henry Logan Starks Outstanding African American Alumnus Award from Memphis Theological Seminary.

He believes in preaching a message of liberation which focuses on soul salvation, social justice and the uplift of African American community. Young has a heart for the lost, looked over and left behind in the world and does his best to make whoever crosses his path feel the love of Jesus.

Reverend Young is a product of the Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Bolivar, Tennessee and has been preaching since 2014. He was elected as Pastor of Campbell Chapel MBC on March 4, 2018. Young was installed as the Senior Pastor of Campbell Chapel MBC on January 5, 2020. Under his leadership, the congregation has experienced significant spiritual, financial, and numerical growth even through the midst of a global pandemic.

Reverend Young believes in helping ex-offenders with reentry into society and also has assisted over 50 people with expungements to their background records in Hardeman County, Tennessee.

Through community engagement and programs, socially relevant sermons and an undying love for the people, Young has begun to make his mark on the world. Pastor Young is an educator at Shelby County Schools and is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity Inc. He is married to his best friend, the love of his life, the illustrious First Lady of Campbell Chapel Church, Mrs. Kymberlee Young.
