School Board Recognizes BEA for Work During Winter Storm Fern

BEA President Tony Kirk accepts a certificate of appreciation from Hardeman County Schools Director Christy Smith.

Hardeman County Schools Director Dr. Christy Smith took time, during the March 10, 2026, school board meeting, to recognize and show appreciation to Bolivar Energy Authority for its work during winter storm Fern.

โ€œMost of our residents had power within hours and that is so important for our students and our families and our communities, said Dr. Smith as she presented BEA President Tony Kirk with a certificate of appreciation.

The certificate read, โ€œIn appreciation of your proactive efforts to ensure that families in our community experience minimal power disruption during the recent winter storm.

Your team’s willingness to work long hours in hazardous conditions to restore power reflects an exceptional commitment to public service and the well-being of the citizens you serve.

Your dedication, professionalism, and resilience are deeply appreciated and serve as a strong example of community partnership in times of need.

Your efforts did not go unnoticed, and our community is grateful for the care and determination you demonstrated during a difficult time.โ€

Mr. Kirk emphasized it was a team effort, โ€œI canโ€™t take credit for it. Iโ€™ve got a good bunch of lineman that do thatโ€ฆ they leave their families and they come and serve our community. Itโ€™s a big thanks to them and the ladies that work out there.โ€
