Senior Shout Out: Sally Sue Sunrise (SAMPLE #1)

Sally Sue Sunrise, the daughter of Wilbrook and Autumn Sunrise, graduated from Happy Hill High School on Saturday, May 10, 2025. She had been looking forward to that day all during her senior year, but admits a bit of sadness came over her as she walked across the stage to accept her diploma.
“There are so many wonderful memories I made at Happy Hill and I am going to really miss seeing my friends every day,” said Sally Sue. “They are friendships I hope will stay with me long after graduation.”
While a student at Happy Hill High School, Sally Sue was a member of the Beta Club; served as vice-president and president of the student body during her junior and senior years, respectively; participated in theatre at the Hardeman County Arts Center; and was an honor student on the Principal’s List all four years. She participated on the volleyball team and tennis team her sophomore through senior year; and was the first place winner in the 2023 National Teen Writer’s Poetry competition.
Sally Sue has big plans after high school and is looking forward to having more time to become involved in her community focusing on causes, which have great meaning to her.
“After graduation, I am going to volunteer at the Helpful Women’s Shelter and at the RIFA food pantry. Both causes have a personal meaning to me and I hope to make a difference in the lives of others,” said Sally Sue.
Sally Sue is the recipient of the Waldorf Scholarship, HOPE Scholarship, and the Tennessee Promise Scholarship, which she will use while a student at Jackson State Community College where she will pursue a degree in general studies. She hopes to continue her education at the University of Tennessee at Martin earning a bachelors degree in education.
Congratulations to Sally Sue Sunrise, a Happy Hill High School 2025 graduate.
