Area Seniors Have Successful First Week of Submitting Tennessee Promise Applications

With the help of Ayers Foundation Trust College Access Counselors, Hardeman County seniors at Bolivar Central High School (BCHS) and Middleton High School (MHS) are off to a great start with submitting their Tennessee Promise applications after the first week of the 2025/2026 school year. During the 2024/2025 school year, 97 percent of Ayers Scholars high school seniors completed a Tennessee Promise scholarship application. If both schools keep up the average from the first week of about 30 students applying, Hardeman County will be a part of that percentage of success this school year.

In May 2024, the Tennessee Promise marked 10 years of success with more than 150,000 students pursuing higher education with the scholarship.

Tennessee Promise offers eligible high school seniors the opportunity to obtain a technical certificate or associate degree tuition-free, paying for tuition and mandatory fees not covered by other financial aid sources. THEC partners with tnAchieves and the Ayers Foundation Trust to administer the Tennessee Promise, with both organizations closely working with applicants to ensure consistent communication and oversee additional requirements like mandatory meetings and manage eight hours of community service.

The Ayers Foundation Trust announced on Thursday, June 12, 2025, it would be supporting Hardeman County Schools students through its Ayers Scholars Program, the organization’s nationally-acclaimed college access and success initiative.

“Success looks different for every student, whether it is enrolling at a community college or four-year university, pursuing job training at a local Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT), or enlisting in the military. The goal of our counselors is to help every student plan, pay for, and reach his or her highest level of academic achievement to better prepare them for work and successful careers.”

Students at BCHS will work with College Access Counselors Sara Benard and Amanda Rau. Students at MHS will will work with College Access Counselor Stephanie Jones.

There are just about 12 weeks before the November 3, 2025, Tennessee Promise application deadline. If you have a high school senior at either school, be sure they connect with their Ayers Foundation Trust College Access Counselor for assistance.
