September County Commission Meeting Leads to Mayor Pulse Calling Special Meeting

Mayor Todd Pulse and the Hardeman County Commission have called a special meeting for Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 7 p.m. at the Hardeman County Courthouse to determine how TDEC funding and allocation for water projects will be awarded to the municipalities in Hardeman County.

You may hear more about the TDEC funding and mayors requests beginning at the 1 hour 20 min mark.

Joe Barker and Melissa Davis of the Southwest Tennessee Development District spoke about the grants for water, waste water, and storm water at the Tuesday, September 20, 2022, commission meeting. The November 1, 2022, application deadline is quickly approaching and cities want their share of the 4+-million dollars that the commissioners need to allocate.

The issue was one of discussion as many municipality mayors showed up and voiced why they should get a “piece of the pie”. Commissioners are reviewing their requests and will decide how to allocate the funds at Tuesday’s special called meeting.

The public is invited to attend.

Some other items that were covered at September’s County Commission meeting were:

  • Todd Pulse elected Chair, Johnny Lanier elected Chair Pro Tem
  • Appointments approved for various committees
  • Dale Conder Jr. elected as Hardeman County Attorney to serve a term until April 2023
  • Industrial development board to be reinstated
  • Resolution to allow Litter Grant to be administered by the sheriff was tabled
