Sheriff’s Department Takes Over Animal Control

As of July 1, 2023, the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department has taken over the responsibility of animal control in Hardeman County. Animal control will assist residents with animals that are aggressive, have bitten someone, or are unclaimed during an arrest.

Animal Control previously fell under the authority of the Hardeman County mayor’s office and utilized a shared facility with Hardeman Adoptable Animals (HAA), but will now operate out of a separate facility.

“We are working to get the animal shelter facility at the landfill back in operable conditions and will be operating animal control out of that location,” said Sheriff John Doolen.

To report an aggressive animal, call the Hardeman County Animal Control through the Sheriffs Office at (731) 658-3971. For emergency situations, call 911.

Residents who have stray animals on their property that are not aggressive are encouraged to reach out to the HAA, a volunteer run non-profit, located at 315 Clifft Road, Bolivar, Tennessee 38008.

Take the time to make a difference in a local animals’ life by volunteering with HAA. Whether it is cleaning out the kennels, giving the dogs a bath, taking them on walks, or helping at various adoption events, they need your help! {read here more about how you can help}
