Special Called Meeting of the Hardeman County Commission Settles Lawsuit {video}

The Hardeman County Commission held a special called meeting on Thursday, November 14, 2024. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and vote on a settlement offer for the “Sheriff’s Deputies Lawsuit”.

After hearing public comments and discussion, Commissioner David Bell made a motion to settle the lawsuit for $1.75 million. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Cory Bufford. Voting in favor of the settlement were commissioners Bobby Wright, Johnny Weems, Bethany Miller, Chandra Lake, Jeff Kennamore, Joseph Jenkins, Michion Gatlin, Russell DeBerry, Cory Bufford, and David Bell. Voting against the settlement were John Vickers, Jackie Sain, Johnny Lanier, Bobby Hensley, Brad Grantham, and Mark Gilliam. The settlement offer passed with a 10 to 6 vote.
