Spring Carnival Brings Rides, Food, and Fun to the AgriBusiness Center, Fairgrounds

A Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, Jalopy Junction, the Funny Farm, and of course funnel cakes are just some of the sights visitors saw when they came out to the Spring Carnival that is being held at the Hardeman County AgriBusiness Center in Bolivar. The carnival opened on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, and has just two more days before it packs up and heads out of town after it closes on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 10 p.m.

Families from all over Hardeman County and some from out of the area have come out to ride the rides, play the games to win prizes, and eat all of the neat food that you cannot get every day and only expect to find at a carnival. Going to the carnival was a great way to welcome spring in Hardeman County and the weather had been accommodating with mostly sun during the days and evening temperatures where visitors had been able to enjoy without bundling up to stay warm.

The weather took a turn on Friday bringing a day of rain and the closure of the carnival. Unfortunately, the rain also left muddy fields, so the ATV barrel racing that was originally planned for Saturday had to be canceled. Despite that, the Spring Carnival resumes regular scheduling on Saturday and will also be open on Sunday for families to come out and enjoy the fun.

Since its opening, the AgriBusiness Center has been the site for a number of events in the past year with the 2023 Forest Festival, Dr. Jerry Wilhite’s retirement party, and Charles Morrow Day to name a few. Sponsored events by the AgriBusiness Center like the Spring Carnival allow the business center and fairgrounds to be used to its fullest with events for the community.

“The carnival is another opportunity to use the grounds for more than just once a year,” said AgriBusiness Center board member Gary Rodgers. “It helps us fund improvements on the grounds as well as give the carnival crew more opportunities to work and not simply sit idle between set-ups.”

The Spring Carnival rides, food, and fun comes to Hardeman County from Casey’s Rides, Inc. that is based in Utica, Kentucky. There is fun to be had for the very young all the way to adults. And everyone has that special carnival food they love, and you will probably find it there. Rodgers hopes people continue coming out today and tonight, as well as on Sunday to enjoy a fun and family-friendly event right here in Hardeman County. Attendance to events sponsored by the AgriBusiness Center helps the organization to be able to offer more community events in the future.

“We hope the guests, especially the children, get to have a good time, and enjoy some fair food in a safe environment,” said Rodgers.
