State Archivist Visits Bolivar History Room

Chuck Sherrill, Former State Librarian and Archivist visited the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library on Monday, April 24, 2023. He toured the library’s history room and shared ideas with library staff and volunteers on how to best preserve the county’s rich history.

Representatives from the library then attended a training class by Mr. Sherrill the following day in Jackson. The class, Local History is Your Superpower, was sponsored by The Tennessee Regional Library System.

The history room, which is located inside of the Bolivar-Hardeman County Library, is regularly used by those living inside and outside of the county to research their family history. The room is open during normal library operating hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Residents wanting to contribute to the history of Hardeman County are encouraged to submit their family history for inclusion in the Hardeman County History and Families, Vol. III – Bicentennial Edition .
