Ten Petitions for Bolivar Ballot Picked Up Before Thursday’s Deadline

As of Wednesday afternoon, 10 petitions for the City of Bolivar Tuesday, May 20, 2025, election have been picked up before they must be returned by the Thursday, February 20, 2025, deadline at noon.
Bolivar residents will have the opportunity in May to select a new mayor and four new city council members from those qualifying petitions and any others returned by the February 20 deadline. The withdrawal deadline is Thursday, February 27, 2025, at noon.
Two petitions for City of Bolivar Mayor have been picked up by incumbent Mayor Julian McTizic and City of Bolivar Councilwoman Caroline Miller.
Eight people who have picked up petitions for City Council positions are:
Melvin Golden (incumbent) and Jesse Gibson picked up a petition for District A Position 3.
Tommie Woods (incumbent) and Betty Golden picked up a petition for District A Position 4.
Suzanne Rhea (incumbent) picked up a petition for District B Position 2.
Michael Brown (incumbent), Burt Davis, and Gwenda Woods picked up a petition for District B Position 4.
Anyone interested in qualifying to be on the ballot must:
- Be a resident of the district
- Pick up a petition from the Hardeman County Election Commission
- Get 25 signatures from registered voters in their district.
Petitions must be turned in by noon (12 p.m. CST) on Thursday, February 20, 2025. The full list of requirements to qualify is available at the Hardeman County Election Commission Office, 227 Lucy Black Road, in Bolivar.
