Tennessee’s First Lady Maria Lee Diagnosed with Lymphoma

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced today First Lady Maria Lee has been diagnosed with lymphoma and will begin treatment immediately.

“While this news is unexpected, her prognosis is good and it is treatable,” said Lee.

Lymphoma is cancer of the lymph nodes. According to the Lymphoma Research Foundation, “Lymphoma is the most common type of blood cancer in adults and the third most common type of cancer overall in children“. Lymphoma can come about slowly where a patient could live without symptoms for many years. A proper diagnosis is best determined through medical tests by a doctor.

“Maria and I deeply appreciate prayers for healing. We are hopeful and will share more in the days ahead,” said Lee.

Along with keeping First Lady Maria in prayer, you may help her and others affected by the disease through volunteering, participating in a fundraising event, or making a tax-deductible gift.

September is Leukemia and Lymphoma Awareness Month.
