The WAY: Resurrection Day Unites Community for Jesus, Opens March 27

The WAY: Resurrection Day, an interactive walk-through play experience of what happened before and after Jesus Christ’s death, is set to open its doors on Thursday, March 27, 2025. The free event includes a cast of members from partnering churches, Dixie Hills Baptist Church, Greater Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, Parrans Chapel Baptist Church, Porters Creek Baptist Church, Walnut Grove Baptist Church, and Whiteville First Baptist Church.

The WAY: Resurrection Day has been sharing the story and love of Jesus Christ since it was first presented in 2016 by Parrans Chapel Baptist Church (PCBC). The desire was for all who attended to learn more about Jesus Christ and His sacrifice during one of the most holy weeks of the year for Christians.

For many years, The WAY was held outdoors, and the decision was made in 2024 to move the event indoors. Although the location never affected the attendance, which has rapidly grown over the years, Parrans Chapel Pastor Matt Boatwright believes attendance grew much last year after moving it indoors.

“We used to do this outside at the fairgrounds, which is a great venue. There were many benefits to being outside, but when storms came, we always had repairs to make, and if the weather was bad on a performance day, we still had to carry forward,” said Pastor Boatwright. “The attendance has gone up every year so far, regardless of the venue. But I do believe that we have gained more people because ‘The WAY’ is held inside now. We are so grateful to those who have made it possible for us to be in this building.”

Preparation for the event this year began right after Christmas with script writing and rewrites, and scene design. The casting was decided and building the sets started in late February.

“We have changed some scenes and added an entirely new one. This year, we are introducing Hardeman County to the great disciple makers Priscilla and Aquilla. They were people that the apostle Paul trained up in ‘The WAY’ of Jesus Christ,” said Pastor Boatwright. “In turn, this couple spent their lives training others up in “The WAY”. Jesus tells us in Matthew 28:18-20, ‘Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’ Our hope this year is to encourage more people to follow in the footsteps of these two examples. Train up other people to be disciples of Jesus Christ through honest personal relationships in Christ.”

The cast includes about 80 people from the age of six months to 85 years old, making it truly a community event. As The WAY is an annual event, Pastor Boatwright encourages anyone interested in participating in the future to reach out to him regarding their interest.

In addition to The WAY, Pastor Boatwright invites everyone to attend a Christian community worship service, which will be held at the Bolivar Middle School gym on Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 6 p.m.

“Everyone is invited to attend to worship the Lord, pray repentance, blessing, and healing over our community in Jesus name,” said Pastor Boatwright.
