Three Area Students Named Ag Day Art Contest Winners

Shalisa D. of GJES (1st Place)

The Hardeman County Agribusiness Center and Forest Festival announced winners of the annual art contest as Shalisa D. of GJES (1st Place), Kalura A. of TES (2nd Place), and Peyton R. of HES (3rd Place). The theme this year was “If I were a Tree, Where Would I Be?” and each student used their creativity and artistic skills to bring that to life.

Art submissions were accepted from fourth grade students across Hardeman County. The contest was part of the Tennessee Forest Festival Ag Day for fourth grade students, which was held on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Agribusiness Center in Bolivar. Just about 240 students attended Ag Day and almost half of those participated in the art contest.

Kalura A. of TES (2nd Place).

“We had [art contest] participants from all of our schools this year, which may be a first,” said Hardeman County 4-H Extension Agent Gary Rodgers. “Thank you to all of our teachers for promoting it!”

Choosing the winners was not an easy task with almost 100 entries. To determine the overall winners, a winning art piece was selected from each school, and from those pieces, the three final winners were chosen.

Peyton R. of HES (3rd Place).

“We had several really creative entries this year and the top three really stood out as the best ones,” said Mr. Rodgers. “I would like to congratulate these students on their winning artwork in the 2025 Art Contest!”

Each winner will receive their artwork framed and a cash prize.
