Town of Whiteville Meeting Includes School Donation and Emergency Sirens

The Town of Whiteville held its monthly meeting on Monday, April 7, 2025. Present at the meeting were the Town of Whiteville Board of Alderman Ocie Holmes, Jessie Giles, Ernest Pirtle, Mattie Polk-Nelson, Tommy Turner, City Recorder Angelous Simmons, and Mayor Gene Bowden. Several items were discussed, which included a donation to Whiteville Elementary School, board member appointment, Easter events, storm victim support, TEMA approved locations in Whiteville, and the purpose and weekly testing of storm sirens, and upcoming town events. - The board approved it annual donation to Whiteville Elementary School (WES). Last year, the board donated $5,000 and this year, the board will donate $6,000. The money will go into the WES general fund to be used at the discretion of the school.
