Bolivar Central High School (BCHS) graduates Caitlyn Clark, who is the BCHS Class of 2024 valedictorian, and Tatiana Franklin are the first recipients of the Kemia Monay McClellan Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was created in honor of Kemia, a BCHS senior, who had big dreams for her future, but sadly passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023. {read more about Kemia}

In January 2024, City of Bolivar Councilman Chris Williams sponsored the scholarship that was created to “honor the life and legacy of someone who meant so much to her family, friends, and our community”. The creation of the scholarship not only provides direct financial support to BCHS graduating seniors who embody the values and interests of Kemia, but has also helped Kemia’s family continue their goal of keeping her memory alive.

“As a City of Bolivar Councilman, my goal has always been to give back to the community and make a meaningful difference. That’s why I established the Kemia Monay McClellan Memorial Scholarship,” said Councilman Williams who was honored to present both students with their scholarships. “Congratulations to Tatiana Franklin and Caitlyn Clark on your outstanding achievements and dedication. I know this scholarship will have a direct impact and help you in your future endeavors. You have an entire community supporting you and we know that you will continue to make Bolivar proud.”

Along with receiving a scholarship, Caitlyn and Tatiana each received a plaque with their name and an in living memory message about Kemia.

Caitlyn Clark plans to attend the University of Mississippi/Ole Miss to study pharmacy.

Tatiana Franklin plans to attend Austin Peay University.

Applications for the Kemia Monay McClellan Memorial Scholarship for the BCHS Class of 2025 will be available in the counselor’s office in the fall when school resumes.
