Upcoming Presentation Sheds Light on Social Media Dangers for Youth

The Hardeman County Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center is hosting “Behind the Screen: The Hidden Dangers of Social Media for Youth, which will be presented by FBI agents with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Bolivar Central High School. The program is geared towards middle school and high school students and their parents.
Some of the topics being covered during the program include:
- The Dangers of Social Media for Youth
- Peer-to-Peer Social Media Risks
- Sextortion and Online Predators
- Social Media Apps to Avoid
“Behind the Screen, The Hidden Danger of Social Media For Youth is such an important topic for parents and youth of all ages,” said Hardeman County Director Monica Goodman. “As parents, it is our job to protect our children. If we are not aware of the dangers how can we protect our children? Parents as well as youth need to be aware of these dangers. This training is a helpful tool for both.”
There will be gift card drawings for both the students and the parents who attend.
