UPDATE: Alleged Threats at BCHS Leads to Virtual School on Thursday

An early morning fight at Bolivar Central High School lead to rumors of threats, and caused frantic parents to start checking their students out of school.

According to Principal James Crocker, “There was an altercation between two students shortly before 8 a.m. at BCHS this morning. The situation surrounding the altercation was addressed by the administration and the school resource officer.”

But as rumors of alleged threats starting spreading, frantic parents began showing up on campus with concern. Many parents said their calls to the school went unanswered and due to the school’s no cell phone policy, they were unable to make contact with their children.

Bolivar Police Department dispatched officers to the school at 11:05 a.m. after someone called their office due to the alleged threats. Since there were no direct threats made to the school, the decision was made not to lock down the school.

Principal Crocker stated, “The situation was handled in a controlled manner with cooperation from students and parents. The faculty, staff, and administration at BCHS thank you all for your continued support.”

Later today, Bolivar Central High School released a statement informing parents that students who properly checked out will have their absence excused for the day.

An automated message was sent later this evening stating BCHS students will be virtual on September 1, 2022, and teachers and staff are to report to school at the normal time.

Out of an abundance of caution, in light of events that have occurred in the community tonight outside of school hours, Bolivar Central High School students will be virtual on Thursday, September 1, 2022. Students with Internet access should use their Chromebooks to log in and check for assignments. Teachers and staff should report to school at the normal time. ~ BCHS
