UT Extension Welcomes Community at Open House
Hardeman County UT Extension celebrated Extension Month by welcoming the community at its open house on Wednesday afternoon. Over 200 people came out for the event. Director Gary Rodgers commented they hoped to share one of “the best kept secrets” in the county with the community.
“People see us, but they don’t know what we do or what we offer. They can come in here and learn about the programs we provide,” said Rodgers.
In addition to giveaways and door prizes, extension agents and volunteers served a hotdog lunch. BeMore staff member Stephanie Banks was available to talk about healthy lifestyle options. Family and Consumer Science Agent Iama Price shared about healthy snack options. Local beef producer Gary Parsons was on hand to talk about several Master Producer classes. Lee Sammons and the Master Gardeners shared information on container gardening and discussed soil sampling. Visitors were also able to vote for their favorite 4-H Piggy Bank in different grade divisions.
The Hardeman County UT Extension office is located at the Agribusiness Center, 210 Vildo Road in Bolivar and can be reached at (731) 658-2421.
