Whiteville Discusses Cleanup of Neglected Properties at Board Meeting {video}
Cleaning up the town and enforcing ordinances on neglected properties were a couple of the items discussed at this month’s board meeting.
The Town of Whiteville held its regularly scheduled board meeting on Monday, March 6, 2023. Some of the items that were discussed included:
- Coordinating Committee member Michael Mitchell spoke to the board about updating the town’s growth plan.
- City Attorney Nathan Pride advised the board on several issues the city is facing including an error with a CDBG bid application, RCG Trucking, the abandoned Hardeman County Humane Society building, and enforcing ordinances on unkept properties.
- The board approved adding Steven Stanley to the Budget Committee to fill a vacancy created when a previous board member moved out of the area.
- A list of approximately 30 unkept properties were presented to the board. These property owners will soon be notified about the need for upkeep on their properties.
- Reports were given by Police Chief Ben Davis, Fire Chief Matthew Graber, and Library Director Glenda Doyle.
