Winter Storm Fern Recovery: Relief for Homeowners and a Celebration of Those Who Served

By State Senator Page Walley
February 20, 2026
As our communities continue to recover from Winter Storm Fern, I want to pause and say thank you to the many heroes who carried us through those difficult days. From first responders and utility crews to National Guardsmen, volunteers and neighbors helping neighbors, your selfless work made all the difference.
Instead of focusing this week on legislation moving through committees, I want to share a couple of important updates related to our district’s recovery.
Realtors Relief Foundation assistance available
Tennesseans whose primary homes were damaged in the recent disaster may be eligible for up to $1,000 in housing assistance through the Realtors Relief Foundation. These funds can help cover immediate needs such as rent, mortgage payments, temporary lodging and other essential housing costs.
You do not have to be a member of the real estate industry to qualify. Eligibility is based on residency, the location of the damage and verification that the affected property is your primary residence. Applications are due by Friday, April 3, 2026, and assistance will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information or to apply, please visit tnrealtors.com/rrf.
District-wide celebration to honor our recovery heroes
To show our appreciation, I will be hosting a district-wide celebration for all who served in the storm response and recovery effort and for their families. Join us on Sunday, March 1, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the McNairy County Agriculture Center in Selmer. We’ll have catfish, BBQ and live music by the popular Nashville group John England and the Western Swingers.
This event is for everyone who played a role — law enforcement, utility workers, chainsaw crews, national guardsmen, warming shelter volunteers, those working behind the scenes and every neighbor who stepped up to help another. We want to celebrate you.
If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Haley Stanfield at 731-439-0986 or haley.stanfield@mcnairycountytn.com.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your state senator. As always, please reach out to me with the issues that matter to you at sen.page.walley@capitol.tn.gov or 615-741-2368. I’ll be sharing more about legislation next week, and I hope to see you on March 1.
