Zolonda Massey Named Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School Principal

Somerville, Tennessee – Fayette County Public Schools is proud to announce that Mrs. Zolonda Massey will serve as the next Principal of Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School. With over two decades of educational experience, Mrs. Massey brings a deep passion for student success, strong leadership, and an unwavering commitment to the Fayette-Ware community.

Mrs. Massey began her career as a classroom teacher at LaGrange-Moscow School, where she taught for 13 years before moving into school leadership. For the past 11 years, she has served as an Assistant Principal, building a reputation as a compassionate, dedicated, and visionary leader.

Driven by a belief that every student deserves the very best, Mrs. Massey is inspired by the opportunity to make a lasting impact. “My motivation comes from within and from seeing the needs of our students, who deserve the absolute best we have to offer,” she shared.

Her leadership approach centers on positivity, character-building, and providing both staff and students with the tools necessary for success. She envisions Fayette-Ware as a school where every student—regardless of background or circumstance—has access to exceptional education, practical skills, and meaningful opportunities. “Through academic excellence, leadership development, and strong community partnerships, we will prepare our students to thrive in college, careers, and life—while staying rooted in the values and traditions that make our community strong,” she said.

Mrs. Massey’s top priorities include increasing student achievement, boosting enrollment, and improving teacher retention. She defines student success as equipping young people with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to achieve their goals and make meaningful contributions to society.

To build a strong school culture, she plans to be visible, accessible, and responsive—fostering strong relationships with students and staff and encouraging open, accountable dialogue. Recognizing the vital role of families, she looks forward to hosting community events where parents feel welcomed and valued and invites parents to volunteer and take part in school functions.

Communication will be a cornerstone of her leadership, with updates shared via the Remind app, social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, flyers sent home, and postings around the school.
“The students who walk through our doors each day are our future,” Mrs. Massey said. “I want to show them that I care deeply about them, their future, and our community.”

Her favorite motto—“Dreams become reality through hard work, determination, and self-motivation”—reflects her personal drive and leadership philosophy.

In her free time, Mrs. Massey enjoys decorating, traveling, and spending time at her favorite place—the beach. Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Massey as she steps into this important role. We look forward to an exciting future under her leadership at Fayette-Ware Comprehensive High School.
