4-H Poultry Judging Team Brings Home Reserve Champion Honors
The Hardeman County 4-H Senior Poultry Judging Team of Steven Gibson, Alexandria Foster, Raquel Kirk, and LeeEllen Ross brought home Reserve Champion honors in the Western Region 4-H Poultry Judging Contest held on May 15, 2023, in Jackson.
Steven Gibson placed as the 2nd high scoring individual for the Senior Division. Alexandria Foster placed 6th overall, Raquel Kirk placed 8th overall, and LeeEllen Ross finished 17th.
The group qualified for competition at the state contest to be held later this fall in Knoxville. The contest consisted of judging a class of past production hens and a set of oral reasons on the class; Chicken Part ID; Interior egg quality (candling); Exterior egg quality; Broken Out Egg Grading; Carcass Grading; Parts Quality Grading and Further Processed Products.
