Obituary: Pattie Sue Deming
Pattie Sue Deming ~ July 29, 1942 – August 16, 2023 (age 81)
Pattie Sue Deming, 81, of Hickory Valley, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
Ms. Deming was born on Wednesday, July 29, 1942, in Somerville, Tennessee, to Cheek and Ruby Graham Atkeison. She moved to Hickory Valley and then to Memphis in 1980 where she worked in sales at Dobbs Ford and would meet her “person,” Ben King, aka ‘Big Bird.’ They retired together in 1994 and moved back to Hickory Valley. They were together for 34 years.
Ms. Deming was known for her fierce personality and being the “best cook.” She loved her family and was proud of each and every one of them.
Survivors include her daughter, Tracye Simmons; her husband, Fred, of Somerville; a son, Chris Deming, of Hickory Valley; her life partner, Ben King, of Hickory Valley; three grandchildren, Marley Simmons, Taylor Deming, and Chevvis Deming; and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Brad Deming, and her granddaughter, Leslie Deming.
The family requests memorials be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Shackelford Funeral Directors in Bolivar, Tennessee were in charge of her services.
